Marion Näser-Lather

Dr. Marion Näser-Lather is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute for Critical Studies in Culture and History, affiliated with the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy at Philipps-Universität Marburg. She also holds an Assistant Professor position at the Department of History and European Ethnology at Leopold-Franzens-University of Innsbruck since 2022.

Research Interests:

Her work spans Gender Studies, Digitalization, Protest Research, and Critical Military Studies. She explores methodological and ethical challenges in sensitive research, particularly in contexts like antifeminist academic discourse, veteran reintegration, and Italian feminist movements.

Recent Publications: Analyzed gender norms in military families, digital activism in Se Non Ora Quando?, and antifeminist 'genderist' narratives. Her scholarship bridges ethnographic methods with critical theory.

Scientific Contributions:

• Received MARA habilitation fellowship (2017)
• Co-edited journals on augmented realities and Mediterranean resistance practices
• Authored works on Wicca, military sexualities, and gender in ISAF media studies

Grants: Led the REVERSE BMBF project sub-study on antifeminist discourse (2017-2019) and secured DFG funding for habilitation research.
