Marion Dohen is an Associate Professor at the Speech and Cognition Department of GIPSA-lab (PCMD research team) and teaches at the PHELMA engineering school within Grenoble INP. Her research focuses on multimodal communication, particularly the role of manual gestures in spoken communication, alternative communication methods for individuals with speech impairments, and the neural correlates of prosody perception. She coordinates projects like ComEns (2014-2017) addressing communication challenges in Down Syndrome and leads studies on speech-gesture coordination.
Education includes a PhD in Cognitive Sciences from Grenoble Institute of Technology (2005) and post-doctoral research in Japan exploring neural correlates of prosody. She holds grants from FIRAH, ANR, and international collaborations. Awards include the AFCP Thesis Prize (2006) and JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship (2005-2006).
Her work bridges cognitive neuroscience and applied linguistics, with expertise in EEG/fMRI studies and assistive communication tool evaluation. She advises doctoral students on topics like speech motor control and inner speech modeling. Active in academic service, she contributes to conference organization and editorial roles in Speech Communication journals.
