Mario Santana-Quintero is a Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and cross-appointed with the Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism at Carleton University. He directs the NSERC Create Program on Heritage Engineering based at the Carleton Immersive Media Studio Lab (CIMS). He is also a Guest Professor at the Raymond Lemaire International Centre for Conservation (University of Leuven) and serves as Secretary General of the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).
Research and Collaborations: Specializes in heritage documentation, conservation, and immersive media applications for cultural heritage. Collaborates internationally with organizations such as UNESCO, the Getty Conservation Institute, ICCROM, World Monuments Fund, and Korea's Cultural Heritage Agency. His work focuses on digital documentation techniques, historic building rehabilitation, and international cultural heritage preservation.
