Mario R. Cepeda Caceres is a Lecturer in the Department of Social Sciences at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP). He is also a coordinator of the Lives in Dignity project at PUCP's Instituto de Democracia y Derechos Humanos (IDEHPUCP) and a member of the Interdisciplinary Group on Memory and Democracy. His work intersects anthropology, human rights, and post-conflict studies, with a focus on the impact of violence on indigenous communities.
Research interests include:
- Transitional justice policies in post-conflict Peru
- Intercultural and gender perspectives in violence studies
- Indigenous peoples' rights and territorial reconfiguration
- Decolonial approaches to ethnographic research
His 2022 project Understanding violence and death spaces explores the legacy of the Peruvian Armed Conflict (1980-2000) in Ayacucho, combining qualitative fieldwork with rights-based frameworks. He has previously served as coordinator of the Research and Advocacy Area of CISEPA and as a member of LASA's Peru Section Executive Committee (2018-2022).
