Mario Draper

Dr. Mario Draper is a Senior Lecturer in the School of History at the University of Kent, based at Rutherford College. His research focuses on British, Irish, and European military history from the 19th to 20th centuries, emphasizing the interplay between armies, societies, and national/ regional identities. Dr. Draper holds a PhD from the University of Kent, following an MSt in Modern British and European History from St. Catherine’s College, Oxford, and a BA in War Studies from the University of Kent.

He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate military history modules, specializing in British Army experiences in the 20th century. His publications include books such as The Belgian Army and Society from Independence to the Great War (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018) and articles in journals like Historical Enounters and Small Wars and Insurgencies. Dr. Draper is affiliated with the Centre for the History of War, Media and Society at the University of Kent.
