Mario Cesareo is an Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies at Vassar College since 1994. He holds a BA from the University of California, Irvine, and an MA and PhD from the University of Minnesota. His research spans Latin American colonial studies, Golden Age theatre, postcolonial theory, and Argentine cinema. Current projects include a book on slavery's symbolic production in the Americas and a study on Argentine cinema's ecological gaze.
Research interests focus on interdisciplinary approaches to colonialism, subaltern theory, and cultural semiotics. He teaches courses such as HISP 216 (Multidisciplinary Analysis), HISP/LALS 229 (Postcolonial Latin America), and writing workshops.
