About
Mario Carić is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Anthropology, University of Zagreb. He holds a postgraduate degree in Archaeology (2023) and a graduate degree in Prehistoric Archaeology (2013) from the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Philosophy, complemented by professional certification in museology (2016). His career includes archaeological fieldwork, curation at Sisak City Museum (2014–2017), and leadership roles in excavations at sites like St. Quirinus and Zrinska gora.
His research integrates bioanthropology, paleopathology, and forensic anthropology with isotopic and statistical methods to reconstruct prehistoric lifestyles. He investigates human remains, disease patterns in ancient populations, and theoretical frameworks in archaeology.
Since 2018, he has contributed to the Croatian Science Foundation project Reconstruction of prehistoric (Neolithic to Bronze Age) way of life in Croatia – a multidisciplinary approach (PASTLIVES), led by Dr. Mario Novak.
