Marine LE BAIL is a full-time Lecturer (Maître de conférences) in 19th-century French literature and book history at Toulouse–Jean Jaurès University. She currently heads the French literature section within the LMCO department and is an active member of the ELH research team (“Literature & Hermeneutics”).

- PhD in Modern French Literature, 2016, L’Amour des livres la plume à la main : écrivains bibliophiles du XIXe siècle, co-directed by Fabienne Bercegol and Françoise Mélonio
Research Interests:
Marine Le Bail’s work bridges literature, book history, and material culture. Her investigations focus on 19th-century French literature, the history of books and publishing, bibliophilia and collecting practices, intermediality and illustration, and the symbolic destruction or re-creation of books. She has published extensively on writers such as Charles Nodier, Gérard de Nerval, Alexandre Dumas, George Sand, and Octave Uzanne, analyzing their roles as both authors and collectors.

Current Projects & Grants:
She co-directs the international project « Biblioclasmes » with Benoît Tane (LLA CREATIS), exploring the deliberate destruction of books and its symbolic, ideological, and aesthetic stakes across history.
Research Teams & Labs:
Marine Le Bail is affiliated with the Patrimoine, Littérature, Histoire (PLH) research unit and leads the ELH team (Literature & Hermeneutics). She also serves on the editorial committee of PUM (Presses universitaires du Midi).
