Dr. Marina Dorian is a Core Associate Professor in Naropa University's Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling Program. She holds a PhD in Clinical and Community Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an MA from the same institution, and a BA in Psychology and Russian Language from UCLA.
Her research focuses on adult romantic relationships, mindfulness practices, and cultural influences on mental health. She has over 30 years of experience studying relationship satisfaction, transition to parenthood, and stress resilience. Dr. Dorian is an active member of the Institute on Violence, Abuse, and Trauma (IVAT), presenting on complex trauma and violence prevention strategies. She maintains a private coaching practice specializing in mindfulness and relationship enhancement, informed by over 20 years of meditation practice in the Thich Nhat Hanh tradition.
