About
Marin Roje is a researcher and Head of the Laboratory for Chiral Technologies (LKT) at the Division of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry within the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb, Croatia. His work focuses on organic synthesis, chiral technology, and the development of bioactive compounds derived from marine and plant sources.
Roje leads research in chiral separations using advanced chromatographic techniques, synthesis of complex organic molecules, and the exploration of natural products for pharmaceutical and biotechnological applications. He collaborates on projects such as the BIO-ECOnomy initiative and comparative phosphoproteome analysis of antibiotic-producing bacteria.
His research interests include the synthesis of β-lactams, hydantoins, and marine alkaloids, alongside the development of chiral stationary phases for HPLC/SFC applications. He also investigates the biological activities of marine-derived polysaccharides and plant extracts, emphasizing antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antiproliferative properties.
Roje has supervised students including Mladenka Jurin (PhD), Paola Sinković, and Marija Renić. He contributes to equipment management for chromatography systems and collaborates on EU-funded projects like INTERREG Adriatic-Ionian.
