Marilène Oliver is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Alberta, serving as Coordinator for Media Arts and Printmaking. Her practice bridges digital technologies, traditional print, and sculpture to explore the materiality of digitized bodies.

Research Focus: Oliver investigates medical imaging, AI, virtual reality, and datafication through MRI/CT/PET scans to examine the 'unfleshing' of the human body in data form. Current projects include Dyscorpia: Future Intersections of the Body and Technology, Know Thyself as a Virtual Reality, and Multi-Dimensional Digital Print, exploring post-technological embodiment.
Collaborations & Recognition: She leads LASERAlberta (arts-science talks) and has partnered since 2009 with Van Grimde Corps Secrets on transdisciplinary projects Transes and MutationsAI. Her work appears in collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum and The Wellcome Trust, with a 2018 TEDMED presentation highlighting her research.
