Marieke Bos is a Full Professor at the School of Business and Economics (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) and a Deputy Director of the Swedish House of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics. She holds a PhD in Economics from Stockholm University (2010) and serves as a Docent in Financial Economics at SSE. Her roles include visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and the Central Bank of Sweden, and former board member of the Swedish Pensions Agency. Her research focuses on Household Finance, Behavioral Finance, Labor and Finance, Mental Health, and Empirical Banking.
Marieke has secured grants from institutions like Nasdaq Foundation, FORTE, VINNOVA, and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Awards include the 2019 Michael J. Brennan Best Paper Award and the 2017 Hans Dalborg Award. She actively organizes conferences, such as the Research in Behavioral Finance Conference, and collaborates on projects addressing consumer credit, mental health, and financial well-being.
Her work bridges economics and psychology, analyzing how scarcity, mental health, and behavioral biases influence financial decisions. Notable projects include studying the mental health impacts of corporate acquisitions and the link between ADHD and financial distress.
