Marie Rask is a Senior Lecturer in Health Sciences/Nursing at Kristianstad University's Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing Education and Integrated Health Sciences. She is affiliated with the Center for Food Health and Retail at Kristianstad University (FOHRK), Patient Reported Outcomes - Clinical Assessment Research and Education (PROCARE), and The Health in Collaboration research platform.
Her research focuses on quality of life, with the goal of improving health and well-being in both patients and healthcare professionals. As a PhD student, she studied women's quality of life in connection with cervical cancer screening, and currently investigates quality of life in healthcare professionals. Her secondary research area is lifestyle counseling, where she is a co-researcher in the ELCI project. She also has a strong interest in survey development and psychometrics, having worked on translation, cultural adaptation, and psychometric testing of various surveys including FACIT-CD, ProQOL, and SELC-20+20.
Dr. Rask leads the PROLIVA project, which focuses on professional quality of life and lifestyle habits of healthcare professionals in intensive care units, a collaboration between Kristianstad University and Kristianstad Central Hospital. She is also the project leader for a meta-study on the concept of participation and serves as co-supervisor for a doctoral student in the ELCI project.
Her recent publications demonstrate trends in professional quality of life, lifestyle counseling for healthcare professionals, and psychometric development of assessment tools. Her work bridges clinical practice with research to improve healthcare delivery and professional well-being.
Dr. Rask has received media attention for her work, including TV appearances about improving well-being for IVA staff and newspaper articles about the PROLIVA research project.
As an educator, she teaches scientific theory and method, supervises degree theses, and is responsible for courses including the Degree Project in Nursing and Scientific Theory and Method. She has been a registered nurse since 1997, a high school teacher in care since 2002, and a district nurse since 2022.
