Marie Kruger is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Iowa. Her research focuses on African & Diasporic Literatures, Post-Colonial Studies, and Visual/Museum Studies. She is affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and contributes to interdisciplinary initiatives in gender, heritage, and trauma studies.
Her current book project examines women’s political activism in South African visual culture, analyzing films and multimedia exhibitions in former apartheid prisons. A previous publication, *Women’s Literature in Kenya and Uganda: The Trouble with Modernity*, explores gender dynamics and modernity in East African literature. Kruger’s work appears in journals like Safundi, African Studies, and Research in African Literatures.
Committed to inclusive pedagogy, Kruger emphasizes collaborative learning environments. She has engaged in training through UI’s BUILD program, the Center for Teaching, and workshops led by the Multicultural Initiatives Research Team.
