Marie Griffith

R. Marie Griffith is the John C. Danforth Distinguished Professor and Director of the Danforth Center on Religion and Politics at Washington University. She holds joint appointments in Pathology and Genomic Medicine, Biochemistry, and Cancer Biology.

Her research analyzes how religious beliefs shape American political conflicts, particularly debates around gender, sexuality, and marriage. She is a prominent commentator on evangelical movements and author of award-winning books including Moral Combat (2017), which examines how sexual politics divided American Christianity.
