Marie S. E. Clausén is a Doctoral Candidate in Classics and Religious Studies at the University of Ottawa (Faculty of Arts) and part-time professor teaching Religion & Architecture (SRS 4302). She holds multiple degrees in Art History (Uppsala University, Lund University) and International Relations (University of Reading). Her research focuses on medieval church architecture, existential space theory, and the future of sacred architecture in post-Christian societies. Current projects include a dissertation on Norfolk’s medieval churches and a book project titled Sacred Architecture in a Secular Age.
Her publications analyze topics ranging from Green Men iconography to Heideggerian interpretations of medieval fonts. She has taught at Carleton University and the University of Ottawa, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to religion and material culture.
