Dr. Marie Chabbert is an Assistant Professor of Modern European Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Utrecht University. She holds a D.Phil. in French Studies from the University of Oxford and has held previous positions as a Research Fellow at St John's College, Cambridge, and adjunct lecturer at the Catholic University of Paris. Her research focuses on how 20th- and 21st-century French philosophers (post-structuralism, deconstruction, phenomenology) address religious coexistence amid rising global anti-religious violence. She is preparing a monograph titled What Comes After Tolerance? A French Theory of Religious Diversity.
Active in public engagement, she serves as a UN Interfaith Ambassador and contributes to Le Monde and Esprit. Her interfaith initiatives include peacebuilding efforts against religious extremism. She teaches courses such as Continental Philosophy and History of Philosophy III at Utrecht University.
