Marie Botkin

Dr. Marie Botkin serves as an Associate Professor in Fashion Design within the Department of Family & Consumer Sciences at California State University, Long Beach's College of Health & Human Services, specializing in Fashion Merchandising and Design education.

Her academic credentials include:

• Ph.D. in Design, Housing and Apparel, University of Minnesota
• M.A. in Design, Housing and Apparel, University of Minnesota
• B.A. in French Literature, University of Minnesota

Her research critically examines History of Fashion Photography through visual cultural lenses, investigates Medieval Fashion as socio-historical expression, analyzes Post WWII French Fashion's revival of haute couture, and pioneers sustainable methodologies in Textiles development. Current scholarship emphasizes ecological responsibility in material innovation while contextualizing historical fashion narratives.
