Dr. Maria del Mar Vanrell Bosch is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Catalan Philology and General Linguistics at the University of the Balearic Islands. She serves as the Principal Investigator of the GRESIB research group and Secretary of the IRIE Institute. Her research focuses on language variation, sociolinguistics, and prosody-pragmatics interfaces, with a regional emphasis on the Balearic Islands' linguistic dynamics. She holds a Ph.D. from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and has held postdoctoral positions at the Autonomous University of Madrid and the Free University of Berlin.
Education: B.A. (2003), M.A. (2006), and Ph.D. (2011) in Catalan Philology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Postdoctoral research at the University of Madrid (2011-2013) and Berlin (2013-2016).

- Prosody-syntax/pragmatics interfaces
- Catalan dialectology
- Language policy and education in the Balearic Islands
Grants and Projects: Coordinated the 2022-2023 project on youth language attitudes in the Balearic Islands, leading to a published book. Active in Spanish National Research Plan and EU-funded projects since 2009.
Awards: Recipient of the 2010 Speech Prosody Best Student Paper and 2015 Extraordinary Ph.D. Prize.
