Maria del Carmen Vazquez Rojas

Maria del Carmen Vazquez Rojas, PhD is Associate Professor (Professora Agregada) in the Department of Private Law at the University of Girona, Spain, and a core member of the Research Group on Philosophy of Law (Grup de Recerca en Filosofia del Dret). Her research lies at the intersection of legal theory and procedural law, centring on how courts evaluate scientific and expert evidence, the epistemic foundations of judicial proof, and the gendered dimensions of legal reasoning. She has delivered more than sixty invited talks, keynotes and conference papers across Europe and Latin America since 2006, reflecting an enduring commitment to comparative and interdisciplinary scholarship.

Recent speaking engagements span high-profile venues such as the XLIV International Congress of Procedural Law (Cartagena, 2023), III National Evidence Law Conference (Santiago, 2023), and the Girona Evidence Week (2022), addressing themes ranging from judicial error in expert consensus to the reform of expert-evidence provisions in the Colombian General Procedure Code.
