Maria Victoria Sanchez Giner (also known as Victoria Chezner) is an Associate Professor of Painting at the University of Murcia's Department of Fine Arts within the Faculty of Fine Arts. She holds a Doctorate from Universitat Politècnica de València (2009) and a Master's in Education and Museums from the University of Murcia. As an integrated member of the ECCE HOMO research group (Quaternary Cenozoic Evolution Homo Ecology) and collaborator with i2ADS at the University of Porto, her work bridges artistic practice and scientific research.
Her research focuses on three interconnected axes:
- Ethical/aesthetic foundations of landscape in scientific/artistic production
- Scientific illustration and paleo-visualization (paleobotanical/archaeological iconography, paleoart)
- Integral heritage studies and paleoecological reconstruction
She has extensive leadership experience including serving as Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Vice Dean of Academic Coordination, and coordinator for Diversity/Volunteering programs. Her research has been supported by grants including PID2022-136832NB-I00 and PID2019-104949GB-I00 from national funding agencies.
As academic advisor, she has supervised 40 undergraduate theses, 16 master's theses, 5 completed doctoral dissertations, and currently mentors 5 additional doctoral candidates.
