Maria Stassinopoulou

Maria Stassinopoulou is a Professor at the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies, University of Vienna. She teaches courses spanning Greek literature of the Early Modern Period, Modern Greek history (1821-2022), and interdisciplinary topics such as gender and migration. Her recent teaching assignments include seminars on the historical novel genre, study trips to cultural events like the Greek Film Week in Munich, and translation workshops focused on Erotokritos. Her research interests include Byzantine and Modern Greek cultural history, historical fiction, and educational emigration from Greece in the 20th century.
