Maria Rosaria Rescigno

Maria Rosaria Rescigno is a Researcher at ISMed-CNR in Naples and teaches Economic History at the University of Naples Federico II. She holds a degree in Modern Literature and a PhD in History of European Society. She has obtained national scientific qualifications for Associate Professor roles in Modern History, Contemporary History, and History of Political Institutions.

Her research focuses on socio-administrative and institutional history of the 18th and 19th centuries, with recent expansions into economic history. Notable works include studies on public finance in Southern Italy, municipal budgets, and bureaucratic development. Her 2007 monograph on early 19th-century finance received a special mention in the Sele d'Oro Award.

She leads the project 'The pre-unification South through municipal budgets of capital cities' (ISMed-CNR & IFEL). She is involved in editorial roles for historical archives and serves on the Board of the Historical Institute of the Risorgimento. Her contributions span monographs, journal articles, and edited volumes, emphasizing regional and institutional dynamics in Southern Italy.
