Maria Rosa Garrido Sarda

Maria Rosa Garrido Sarda is a Professor in the Department of English Philology and German Studies, affiliated with the Research Group in English Linguistics: Use and Acquisition in Multilingual Contexts (GReLA). She holds a Doctorate in English Philology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) with Cum Laude honors and an International Doctoral Mention. Her academic career includes roles as MAître Assistant (Lecturer) at the University of Lausanne (2017–2021), Postdoctoral Researcher at Universität Freiburg (2015–2017), and Assistant Professor at the International University of Catalonia (2012–2015).

Her recent publications explore humanitarianism’s intersection with military neutrality, invented languages for social commons, and multilingual career flexibility in NGOs. She has supervised over 10 theses, including doctoral work on transnational communities and migrant residential projects.

She actively participates in grants addressing multilingual practices in healthcare and institutional settings. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education and social inclusion, leveraging linguistic research for societal impact.
