Maria R. Rippon

Maria R. Rippon is an Associate Professor of Spanish at Furman University, where she has taught since 2005. Her expertise spans Spanish language, literature, and civilization, with a focus on medical Spanish education, metafiction, historical fiction, and narratology. She co-teaches a Medical Spanish course with her sister, a surgical oncologist, and has translated works by Mercedes Salisachs.

Research Interests: Her work explores metafictional techniques, historical narratives, and narratives of spiritual crisis. She has published extensively on 19th- and 20th-century Spanish literature, including studies of Mercedes Salisachs and Carmen Laforet.
