Maria R. Coleman

Maria R. Coleman is a Professor and Graduate Director in the Department of Chemical Engineering at The University of Toledo. Her work focuses on advanced materials for industrial and environmental applications, with research funded by the National Science Foundation, Ohio Coal Development Office, and the Department of Army.

Dr. Coleman's research spans three interconnected domains:

• Polymeric Membrane Materials: Design of ionic liquid-based polymers and surface-modified membranes for gas separations, water purification, and industrial processes under extreme conditions.
• Polymer Nanocomposites: Engineering of nanofiller-polymer interfaces to enhance thermal, mechanical, and conductive properties.
• Sustainable Materials: Development of bio-based feedstocks and energy-efficient processing techniques for eco-friendly nanocomposites.
