Dr. Maria Perissiou is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Exercise Physiology at the University of Portsmouth, affiliated with the School of Psychology, Sport and Health Sciences and the Faculty of Science and Health. She leads the Physical Activity, Health and Rehabilitation Thematic Research Group and is part of the Clinical, Health and Rehabilitation Research Team (CHaRT). Her research focuses on cardiovascular physiology, particularly the role of exercise in preventing/treating cardiovascular diseases, vascular function assessment, and the impact of lifestyle factors like nutrition and posture on health. She holds grants from institutions such as the Physiological Society and has published extensively in high-impact journals.
