Maria Murawska

Maria Murawska is a Full Professor and Vice-Rector for Teaching, Research, and International Relations at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where she has held continuous leadership roles since 1990 including Dean of the Instrumental Faculty and Rector (2005-2012). An internationally active concert pianist, she performs solo and chamber repertoire across five continents with special focus on Polish composers.

• Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz (Prof. Jerzy Godziszewski)

Murawska's artistic identity centers on Polish musical heritage, specializing in works by Chopin, Paderewski, Bacewicz, and Szymanowski while championing contemporary Polish composers like Zbigniew Bargielski whose complete solo piano works she recorded. Her performance philosophy bridges historical interpretation with modern expression, documented through Polish Radio archives and international festival appearances including the Polish Piano Festival in Słupsk and Usedomer Musikfestival.

Her exceptional contributions to culture and education have earned national recognition:

As an educator, Murawska mentors piano students at both the Academy and Arthur Rubinstein State Complex of Music Schools while shaping national music education policy through her administrative roles. She regularly serves on international competition juries and conducts master classes worldwide, extending her pedagogical influence beyond institutional boundaries.

Her enduring artistic partnership with Prof. Wiesława Ronowska forms a significant chamber music collaboration, performing diverse repertoire across Poland. Murawska also maintains active orchestral engagement, notably premiering works like Kościuszko's Polonaises with the Academy Symphony Orchestra.
