Prof. Maria Morgan is an Associate Professor at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, and Director of the Year 1 Medicine Programme in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of mammary microcalcifications and their role in breast cancer progression, with notable contributions to the development of in vitro calcification models. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Analytical Science and a PhD in Biotechnology from Dublin City University, followed by a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship funded by the US DoD Breast Cancer Program.

She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology and has received multiple awards, including the RDS Science Live Demonstration Bursary (multiple years) and the Faculty of Medicine Dean’s Award.
Teaching roles include contributions to the Direct Entry-Medicine, Graduate Entry-Medicine, and Masters of Pharmacy programs, covering molecular medicine, pharmacology, and biochemistry. She also leads outreach initiatives like the MiniMed School Road-Show and RCSI’s REACH community program.
