Maria Mennuti holds a Combined Role in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at Durham University. She holds an MA in Philosophy from the University of Turin (2020) and is pursuing a PhD funded by the Durham Doctoral Studentship. Her research focuses on ancient Greek philosophy, particularly cosmology, theology, and the history of Platonism.
Her current project examines daimonology as a bridge between philosophy and religion in antiquity, analyzing its role in resolving key philosophical issues like the nature of the soul and providence. The study spans the Early Academy (Xenocrates, pseudo-Platonic Epinomis), Stoicism, and Middle Platonism, emphasizing inter-school dialogues and cultural influences.
