About
Maria Lengquist is a Doctoral student and Teaching staff member at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University, where she teaches in the Medical Programme. Her primary affiliation is with the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care.
Her research focuses on critical care medicine, with particular expertise in:
- Intensive Care and Critical Care Medicine
- Sepsis diagnosis and management
- Biomarkers for critical illness
- Fluid resuscitation protocols
- Mortality prediction in critically ill patients
- Long-term outcomes following critical illness
Maria's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on biomarkers in critical care, particularly calprotectin as a diagnostic marker for sepsis and its association with mortality. She has also contributed significantly to research on renal function markers in critically ill patients and long-term outcomes following sepsis. Her work often involves large cohort studies and clinical trials in intensive care settings, demonstrating methodological expertise in observational research.
Maria is actively involved in the SweCrit project, a critical care biobank that runs from 2015 to 2027, where she serves as a Research student. This long-term project provides the foundation for much of her research in critical care medicine.
