Maria Koliou

Maria Koliou is an Associate Professor in the Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University. Her research focuses on multi-hazard performance-based design, engineering risk analysis, and post-disaster system functionality to enhance community resilience. She specializes in structural dynamics, collapse assessment, and experimental methods in earthquake engineering, with a particular emphasis on sustainable structural systems and timber structures.

Her work integrates economic and social aspects into hazard-resistant design frameworks, aiming to develop resilient infrastructure solutions against natural and man-made hazards. She leads the Koliou Research Group and contributes to the Texas A&M GAANN program in infrastructure resilience through advanced construction methods.
