Dr. Maria Kambouri is Associate Professor at the University of Reading's Institute of Education, serving as Programme Director for BA Education Studies and Deputy Director of Teaching and Learning. She coordinates undergraduate programmes and finances for non-ITE programmes.
Her research investigates early childhood development, play-based learning, science misconceptions, and gender issues in STEM education. Kambouri leads projects examining parent-practitioner partnerships and community engagement models in early years education.
She teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including BA Education Studies, Early Years Teaching Status, and doctoral supervision. Funded research includes the Froebel Trust's 4Ps Project and participatory studies on discussing LGBTQ+ issues in primary education.
