Dr. Maria Isabel Ripoll Perelló is a Full-time Professor in the Department of Catalan Philology at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), where she has been teaching since October 2007. She serves as the director of Catalan Philology and coordinates the Catalan section for the University Entrance Exams (PAU). Her academic home is within the Faculty of Education, where she teaches Catalan Language courses for Primary Education students.
Dr. Ripoll Perelló earned her PhD in Catalan Philology from the University of the Balearic Islands in 2012 with a thesis titled 'Critical Edition and Introductory Study of the Book of Intention by Ramon Llull,' supervised by Dr. Gabriel Ensenyat i Pujol. She previously graduated in Catalan Philology and General Linguistics from the same university in 2000 and was accredited as assistant professor by AQUIB in 2013.
Her research focuses on Lullism and medieval Catalan literature, with significant contributions to philological studies of Catalan texts. She has published articles in national journals including Lluc, Language and Literature, and Studia Lulliana, as well as international publications like Zeitschrift für Katalanistik. Her work demonstrates expertise in textual criticism, historical linguistics, and the interrelation of Romance languages.
Dr. Ripoll Perelló holds several important academic positions: she is the coordinator of the Ramon Llull Chair at UIB (2003-2007/2013), secretary of the Editorial Board of Studia Lulliana, and member of editorial boards for Lluc journal and the Blaquerna Collection. She also serves as the Regional Commissioner of the Balearic Government for the commemoration of the Year of Llull.
As an educator, she teaches Historical Catalan Grammar, Origin and Interrelation of Romance Languages, and Readings and Debates on Medieval Catalan Literature at both undergraduate and master's levels. She has been instrumental in Catalan language education, having taught intermediate-level courses for adults and adapted/translated school textbooks for publishers like Vicens Vives and Casals.
She is an active member of several research groups including Coditecam II at the University of Barcelona, the History of the Catalan Language project (GRHILLC), and the Medieval Studies Group of the UIB (GRESMED). Since 2006, she has been a Magister of the Maioricensis Schola lulísticos, demonstrating her deep commitment to Lullian studies.
