Maria Evjen is a Doctoral Research Fellow and PhD candidate in Scandinavian Linguistics at the University of Oslo, affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities. Her research focuses on experimental methods to study acoustic properties of Norwegian speech sounds and the role of perception in sound change. She holds a Master's degree in Linguistics from the University of Oslo (2021) and a Master of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Edinburgh (2019).

Her research interests center on phonetics, phonology, and language evolution.
