Maria Elmquist

Maria Elmquist is a Professor in Technology Management at the Department of Technology Management and Economics, Chalmers University of Technology, and has served as Chalmers' Deputy President (responsible for leadership and equality) since January 2024. She maintains an affiliation as a researcher with the Centre de Gestion Scientifique (CGS) at Mines ParisTech.

Her research centers on innovation management in technology-based firms, with specific focus on enabling innovation in large organizations, developing organizational innovation capabilities, and facilitating collaborative innovation through networks and ecosystems. Current work investigates the integration of design practices to manage innovation under conditions of uncertainty and the unknown, particularly in emerging ecosystems and agile organizational contexts.

She has published over fifty scientific articles and conference contributions in leading journals including Research Policy, R&D Management, and Creativity and Innovation Management, alongside a book on concept car development and multiple book chapters. She currently supervises two PhD students researching innovation in emerging ecosystems and agile organizational design methodologies.
