Maria Bach Nielsen

Maria Bach Nielsen is a Research Fellow at the Department of Sustainability and Planning, affiliated with the Technical Faculty of IT and Design at Aalborg University. She is the Principal Investigator (PI) of the ETAARC project, focusing on establishing trust and adoption of AI in radiology clinics through a techno-anthropological approach.

• Education: PhD Fellow in Techno-Anthropology and Participation.

Her research interests center on techno-anthropology, biomedical engineering, and AI applications in healthcare, particularly trust dynamics in AI-driven radiology. She explores socio-technical systems and ethical implications of AI in medical contexts.

Recent professional activities include organizing workshops on AI in healthcare, hosting guest lecturers like Leah Heiss and Manuhuia Barcham, and presenting at conferences such as WHINN 2023 and AI in European Hospitals events.

Grants & Projects: Leading the ETAARC project (2022–2025), a multidisciplinary initiative addressing AI adoption challenges in radiology clinics across Denmark.

Labs/Teams: Associated with the Danish Centre for Health Informatics, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration in health technology.
