About
Mari Løset is a Researcher and Acting Senior Consultant in Dermatology at the Department of Public Health and Nursing, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, NTNU. She is affiliated with the HUNT Center for Molecular and Clinical Epidemiology (MCE) and the Department of Dermatology at St. Olavs Hospital. Her research focuses on genetic mechanisms underlying inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, leveraging the Trøndelag Health Study (HUNT) and national health registries.
Key roles include membership in NTNU's Outstanding Academic Fellows Programme (2022-2026) and the K.G. Jebsen Academy for Young Medical Researchers (2021-2024). She serves on the Research Committee (FOFO) of the Norwegian Society of Dermatology and Venereology (2021-2025).
Her work integrates genetic studies with RNA sequencing to uncover novel disease mechanisms and translational therapies. Recent projects include investigating BMI-vitamin D interactions in psoriasis, TH2 responses in palmoplantar pustulosis, and systemic immune regulation in atopic dermatitis.
Publications span over 20 years, with a focus on genetic epidemiology, Mendelian randomization, and transcriptomics. Notable contributions include identifying new risk loci for psoriasis and skin infections, and clarifying causal relationships between metabolic factors and skin diseases.
