Margunn Rauset

Margunn Rauset is a Researcher and head of the dictionary community at the University of Bergen (UiB), affiliated with the Department of Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies. She serves as editor-in-chief of the standard Norwegian dictionaries Bokmålsordboka and Nynorskordboka, leading their revision project from 2018 to 2024. Her research focuses on lexicography, phraseology, and the linguistic differences between Bokmål and Nynorsk. Rauset collaborates with the Language Council and the Language Collections at UiB's library to maintain and modernize these dictionaries.

Her academic roles include membership in the Language Council's expert council for standardization (chair from 2025) and leadership of UiB's dictionary community, overseeing projects like the Norwegian Dictionary a–h. She has translated Icelandic literature into both Bokmål and Nynorsk, integrating practical translation work with her research on fixed expressions and language norms.

Rauset has received national recognition, including the Norwegian Academy of Sciences' Communication Award (2023) for making language research accessible.
