Margo Brown is a Lecturer in Child Development and Family Relations and Coordinator of the Katherine Miles Durst Child Development Learning Center at the University of Maine’s College of Education and Human Development. She holds a B.S. from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (1979), an M.Ed. in Special Education from the University of Maine (2001), and a C.A.S. in Literacy from the University of Maine (2015).
Her expertise focuses on early childhood education and early childhood special education. The Durst Center, established in 1931, is a state-licensed and NAEYC-accredited lab school offering nursery and pre-kindergarten programs for the community while serving as a teaching and research site for students. It is one of the U.S.’s oldest university-affiliated early childhood centers.
Margo teaches courses such as Practicum in Early Childhood Education, Creativity and the Young Child, Literacy and the Youngest Learner, and Early Childhood Special Education. She actively contributes to the field through her role in advancing early childhood pedagogy and inclusive educational practices.
