Dr Margaret Sandars is a Principal Investigator in Lancaster Medical School at Lancaster University. Her work focuses on improving language outcomes for people with aphasia through innovative brain-stimulation techniques and online therapy programmes.
Research Interests
Dr Sandars’s research centres on the intersection of neurolinguistics and neurorehabilitation. She investigates how non-invasive brain stimulation—particularly transcranial direct current stimulation—can be tailored to enhance naming therapy in individuals with chronic Broca’s aphasia. Her current project explores user-centred design for online Intensive Comprehensive Aphasia Programmes (ICAPs), aiming to translate laboratory findings into accessible digital therapeutics.
