Maren Reitler

Maren Reitler is a Research Associate at the Chair of Communication Studies under Prof. Dr. Patrick Donges at the University of Leipzig since March 2023. She contributes to research on media systems in fragile states, particularly Afghanistan under Taliban rule, and explores digital detox practices in media reception.

• Research Interests: Media publics, political communication in post-Taliban Afghanistan, gender activism, and effects of digital detox strategies

Her work engages with the research project "Afghanistan Media System and Publics" funded by the Volkswagen Foundation, examining structural changes in media systems and their societal impacts through collaborative efforts with exiled Afghan researchers.

She has taught seminars on climate and sustainability communication, analyzing psychological effects in media reception, and digital detox research methods. The project combines academic, journalistic, and activist perspectives to advance communication studies in Germany through knowledge transfer initiatives like podcasts and blog posts.
