About
Mareike Buchmann is a doctoral student in an interuniversity program and a Lecturer in dance and performance studies. She holds a background in theater and literature from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and has been working freelance since 2012, developing artistic and educational projects at the intersection of practice and theory.
Her research focuses on movement research and embodied knowledge, exploring how orientation emerges from movement through dance. Theoretical foundations include phenomenological-feminist and materialist body discourses, positioning the dancing body as both subject and object of inquiry.
Her dissertation, Body/Traces/Sensing – Orienting in Movement, investigates dis/re/orientation practices in dance, aiming to transcend bodily knowledge via artistic research.
