Marcus W. Feldman

Prof. Marcus W. Feldman is the Burnet C. and Mildred Finley Wohlford Professor of Biological Sciences at Stanford University and Director of the Morrison Institute for Population and Resource Studies. A mathematical biologist, he develops models to study evolution, learning, and human population genetics.

Research spans cultural niche construction, gene-culture coevolution, and demographic patterns in modern humans, including gender ratio imbalances in China. His group applies computational methods to genomic data and social transmission dynamics.

He co-founded the theory of cultural evolution and niche construction, with 335+ publications in Nature, Science, and PNAS. Editorial roles include Theoretical Population Biology and Genetics.
