Prof. Marcus Deschauer is a senior physician and professor at the Klinikum rechts der Isar, Technical University of Munich. He specializes in neuromuscular diseases, particularly hereditary forms requiring gene-specific treatments. He leads the outpatient clinic for muscle diseases and hereditary neurological diseases, as well as the electroneuromyography laboratory and the Center for Rare Neurological Diseases.
Education and Career: Studied medicine in Erlangen (graduated 1996). Key roles include establishing the Muscle Laboratory in Halle (Saale) and conducting research on mitochondrial diseases at Newcastle University (2002) via a European Neurological Society fellowship.
