About
Prof. Dr. Marcus Bleicher is a Professor at the Institute for Theoretical Physics, Faculty of Physics, Goethe University Frankfurt. His research group investigates matter under extreme conditions (high densities/temperatures) resembling the early universe and neutron star interiors. They specialize in simulating heavy-ion collisions using the Ultrarelativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics (UrQMD) model and collaborate with experimental facilities like GSI, RHIC, and CERN.
Research focuses include:
- Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) of quark-gluon plasma
- Formation and properties of exotic matter
- Strangeness production in hadronic matter
- Relativistic nuclear collisions
He leads a research group including postdoctoral researchers (Dr. Alexander Botvina, Dr. Christian Spieles), doctoral students, and graduate researchers. The group maintains international collaborations through DAAD exchanges with universities in Turkey and Thailand.
