Marcus Allen

Marcus Allen is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His expertise spans African American History, the History of Capitalism, Urban History, and the History of Labor. He holds a PhD in History from Morgan State University (2013). His research examines intersections of race, economics, and urban development, particularly in 19th-century contexts.

Allen has held significant fellowships, including a Postdoctoral Fellowship in African American History at Case Western Reserve University (2021-2023) and a National Humanities Center Fellowship (2020-2021). His recent work includes a forthcoming article, *The Black Dollar in Nineteenth Century Baltimore*, exploring economic strategies among Black communities, and a book manuscript on Black capitalism in Baltimore.

Teaching focuses on American History, African American Studies, and the History of Capitalism. He emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to understanding systemic inequalities and historical socio-economic structures.
