Marcus Allen is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His expertise spans African American History, the History of Capitalism, Urban History, and the History of Labor. He holds a PhD in History from Morgan State University (2013). His research examines intersections of race, economics, and urban development, particularly in 19th-century contexts.
Allen has held significant fellowships, including a Postdoctoral Fellowship in African American History at Case Western Reserve University (2021-2023) and a National Humanities Center Fellowship (2020-2021). His recent work includes a forthcoming article, *The Black Dollar in Nineteenth Century Baltimore*, exploring economic strategies among Black communities, and a book manuscript on Black capitalism in Baltimore.
