Marco Witthohn is a Research Associate at the Technical University of Bingen and a doctoral student in collaboration with the Department of Bioprocess Engineering at TU Kaiserslautern. His research focuses on heterotrophic cultivation of terrestrial cyanobacteria for bioactive secondary metabolites and intelligent process development within the Research College “iProcess.”
Education: M.Sc. in Biotechnology (University of Münster, 2018), B.Sc. in Biosciences (University of Münster, 2016). His master’s thesis examined enzyme systems for polythioester biosynthesis, while his bachelor’s work involved TRAP transporter systems in Advenella mimigardefordensis.
Research interests include microbial metabolic engineering, bioprocess optimization, and sustainable bioactive compound production. He is affiliated with the iProcess Research College, integrating modeling and product development for industrial applications.
