Marco Varisco is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University at Albany, State University of New York. He has been at UAlbany since 2010 and previously served as a visiting assistant professor at Binghamton University from 2006 to 2010.
His educational background includes a PhD from Universität Münster, Germany (2006) and a Laurea from Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy. He is also active in university governance as Vice President for Academics of the UUP Albany Chapter.
Professor Varisco's research focuses on algebraic and geometric topology, homotopy theory, and algebraic K-theory. His work has been supported by a significant grant from the Simons Foundation (2016-2023) for research on 'Algebraic K-theory and equivariant stable homotopy theory.'
