Marco R. de Baar

Marco R. de Baar is a Full Professor and Chair of Plasma Fusion Operation and Control at Eindhoven University of Technology's Department of Control Systems Technology. He also heads fusion research at DIFFER (Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research) and represents the Netherlands in EUROfusion.

His research integrates Plasma Fusion, Tokamak Devices, and Control Systems to optimize nuclear fusion reactors. Key areas include MHD mode control, plasma stability, and remote reactor maintenance.

Publications focus on AI-driven control systems, tokamak diagnostics, and fusion reactor safety. Recent work applies machine learning to plasma dynamics and predictive control.

He leads the MHD stabilization work package for ITER-NL and previously managed operations at JET (Joint European Torus).
